Community Group Prompts and Discussion Questions

Helping one another love Jesus, His people, and His world

Loving Jesus

1.    How does remembering that you were once God’s enemy (Romans 5:8–10) change the way you hear this command?

2.    Jesus promises reward (vv. 23, 35). How does the promise of eternal reward motivate you? Does it feel compelling or distant?

Loving His People

3.    Are there tensions, coldness, or quiet avoidance in our church that may require counterintuitive love?

4.    How can our small group model this kind of love when someone offends, misunderstands, or frustrates us?

Loving His World

5.     Who in your life would honestly fall into the category of “enemy,” which Jesus describes as someone hostile toward your faith? What would loving that person actually look like (not theoretically, but concretely)?
