ELEMENTARY GK STORY:
LIL' GK STORY:

STORY: Jesus promised His disciples that He would send a special Helper to them. Jesus said the Helper would guide them and glorify Him. When the Holy Spirit came, the disciples heard a loud sound like wind. Just like air gives us life by helping us breathe, in the same way God gives us life, too! The Holy Spirit lives in believers to give us new life in Jesus. Through the power of the Holy Spirit we have changed hearts that desire to love and obey God
The Holy Spirit appeared like tongues of fiery flames on the disciples and each one was filled with the Holy Spirit. With the Holy Spirit's power, they were able to share the amazing things God had done in languages they had never spoken before so others could hear the good news of Jesus.
When the Holy Spirit lives in us, He gives us power to share the good news of Jesus, too. We may not be able to speak another language, but He helps us remember the Bible and gives us boldness to share the gospel.
DISCUSSION QUESTION #1: How did the disciples’ ability to speak in different languages point people to God?
ANSWER: Discuss how the people wondered how the disciples were speaking languages they had never spoken before and how they were hearing of the works of God in their own native languages. Share how many people realized this ability was through the power of God. Encourage kids to remember that God can work in us for His glory and do more than we can imagine. (Reference Ephesians 3:20-21.)
DISCUSSION QUESTION #2: God kept His promise to send the Holy Spirit. How can we trust the Holy Spirit to help us?
ANSWER: Discuss how the Holy Spirit is God, the third person of the Trinity. Explain that God is faithful and trustworthy. Remind kids that if He kept His promise to send the Holy Spirit, then we can trust that the Holy Spirit will help us as we tell others about Jesus. Review the big picture answer: The Holy Spirit comforts us, shows us our sin, and guides us as we live for God’s glory.

MORNINGS:
If you don't yet call Jesus your Savior, ask God to teach you more about Himself and to help you believe in Him. Anyone who trusts in Jesus will have the Holy Spirit live in them to help them live for God's glory. If Jesus is your Savior, then thank God for giving you the Holy Spirit to guide you to live for God's glory. Ask God to help you to bear good fruit (the Fruit of the Spirit).
EVENINGS:
Thank God for keeping His promises and for being with you always. Ask Him for the courage and opportunity to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with the people around you. Think of specific people you know who may not know Jesus. Pray that God would open their hearts to know and love Jesus and the good news of the gospel.
