ELEMENTARY GK STORY:
LIL' GK STORY:

STORY: The man who could not walk had many needs: getting food, earning money, and getting to places he wanted to go. When he saw Peter and John, he asked them for money. However, they knew his biggest need was forgiveness of sins that can only come from Jesus.
Peter and John didn’t have money to give him, but they had the good news of Jesus. This is a free gift available to all people. Peter showed the man the power of Jesus by healing him in the name of Jesus. Jesus can make a lame man walk, and He can forgive our sins! The man leaped and praised God, knowing that his needs were seen and cared for. Peter and John were given the power to heal so that those around them would see God’s power and glory. Jesus defeated sin and death. Jesus alone has the power to heal and to save.
DISCUSSION QUESTION #1: How can you help people and share the gospel at the same time?
ANSWER: Discuss how God cares about people’s needs and uses his church to help others. Share how we can help others by finding ways to meet their needs and that our actions show the love of Jesus. Encourage kids to remember that we also need to use our words to tell people about Jesus. Remind them of Romans 10:14 and how people need to have someone tell them about Jesus so they can hear the gospel and believe in Jesus.
DISCUSSION QUESTION #2: Did Peter and John heal in their own power? In whose name did they heal?
ANSWER: Remind kids that Peter and John had no power on their own to heal the man who was lame. Discuss how Peter said, “In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, get up and walk!” Tell kids that Peter was showing others that Jesus alone has the power to heal and to save. Remind kids that Jesus gave His 12 apostles power to perform miracles, but empowers ALL of his followers to share the gospel.
