STORY:
In our story, we learn about a big celebration taking place in heaven. Everyone in heaven was celebrating that Jesus was returning to earth to defeat evil forever. God always keeps His promises. He promised that Jesus would return one day, and He will. Even though we do not know when Jesus will return, we can look forward to that day, knowing that God will do what He said He would do.
When Jesus returns, He will fight evil and Satan. Jesus will win because He is stronger than anyone or anything. Those who trust Jesus for salvation can rejoice knowing we’ll never again live in a world where evil exists. We can be excited for the day Jesus comes back because everything will be made right. We will have no more sadness or pain. We won’t sin anymore. Instead, we will be happy forever because we will be with Jesus. We’ll have what our hearts have always wanted: life with Jesus forever!
DISCUSSION QUESTION #1: What does it mean that Jesus is the KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS? How can I praise and serve Jesus better with this in mind?
ANSWER: Tell kids that Jesus is greater than anyone else, more powerful than any other king on earth or any spiritual evil. Remind kids that when He returns to earth, Jesus will use His power to defeat evil once and for all. Discuss how we can eagerly await His return and be ready for Him to come back. Tell kids that while we wait, we must go and share the good news about Jesus with others. Share how many people do not know how to be saved from their sin through Jesus. Tell kids that only faith in Jesus can save them from the eternal punishment sin deserves.
DISCUSSION QUESTION #2: How would you explain to someone scared and struggling that Jesus gives you hope?
ANSWER: Answers will vary. Help kids understand that many people are hurting and struggling because we live in a world where evil has not yet been finally defeated. Tell kids that they can share the hope of Jesus’ victory with others. Explain that we share how Jesus has defeated sin and death so we can be forgiven and escape the punishment our sin deserves. Then share how Jesus will one day make all things right.
(Option: Read 1 Pet. 1:20-21.)
