STORY: 

     God showed John visions of heaven. The creatures that John saw were all saying, ‘Holy, holy, holy Lord God, the Almighty, who was, who is, and who is coming.’ This means that Jesus has always existed. Even before the world was created, He was reigning as King. He has no beginning. He is still King over all, and He is coming back one day to make everything right. 

     John also saw a scroll in the hand of the One seated on the throne. The Bible tells us that John became very upset because there was no one in heaven or on earth who could open the scroll. No one was worthy except One: Jesus, the Lamb of God. Jesus is the only One who can open the scroll because He lived a sinless life and paid the price for our sin when He died on the cross. When Jesus came and took the scroll, all the creatures and elders fell down and worshiped Him.

       Who is the only One worthy of honor, praise, and glory? Jesus died on the cross like a lamb for the sins of the world. He won the battle against sin and death and rose from the dead. Only He can save us from our sin. Jesus is the only One worthy to receive our honor, praise, and glory. 

DISCUSSION QUESTION #1:  Why is Jesus called the Lamb of God?

ANSWER: Tell kids that Jesus is more valuable than anything else—more than money, or toys, or friends. Explain that when we trust in Jesus we see Him as the most important treasure we could have. Help kids understand that Jesus is most important because of who He is and what He has done. Discuss how He is deserving of all praise because He gave His life for us.

DISCUSSION QUESTION #2:   Why should Jesus be the only One we praise? What are ways we can praise Jesus? 

ANSWER: Discuss how giving thanks to God is one way we praise Him and recognize that He has done so much for us. Invite kids to share what God has done for them. Lead kids to understand that giving thanks isn’t just about what we receive from God but also about who God is. Tell kids that we can thank God that He is good, kind, merciful, holy, and forgiving. We can thank Him for Jesus who saves us from sin and death. Discuss how we can praise God in many ways such as praying to Him, giving thanks, and singing to Him. One way we show that Jesus is most important is by obeying Him and following what He tells us through His Word. Remind kids that if we are His disciples, we should want to praise Him with everything we do.

MORNINGS:

Dear Heavenly Father,

     Thank You for saving us through Jesus. Help us live a life of holiness, set apart for You, as we show others how great Jesus is. Help us love one another and find joy in Jesus, trusting one day He will return for us. Amen.

EVENINGS: 

Dear Heavenly Father, 

     Thank You, God, for sending Jesus as the perfect sacrifice for our sins. Thank You that we can have forgiveness and life forever with You. We praise You, Jesus, because You alone are worthy of all praise. In Jesus’ name, amen.
