Grace and Peace to you brothers.

As we enter this week, we're called to examine our hearts regarding a question that demands our honest reflection: What stirs our passion? In Romans 12:11, Paul urges us not to be "slothful in zeal," reminding us that spiritual fervor is not a luxury for the exceptionally gifted or uniquely called - it is the birthright of every believer who claims Jesus Christ as Lord. Yet if we're honest with ourselves, many of us find our initial enthusiasm for God's kingdom has cooled into comfortable routine. We come to church, we say our prayers, we perform our duties, but where is the fire? Where is the urgency that once compelled us to pray, to serve, to speak of Christ to those around us? This week, we invite you to move beyond the surface and ask yourself: What would it look like for me to recover genuine zeal for God's work in my life? Not the shallow excitement of a moment, but the deep, sustained passion that flows from a heart captivated by the kingdom of God and convinced of its ultimate importance. As you pray this week and meditate on how you might cultivate this passion, consider where lethargy has crept into your spiritual life, and more importantly, what specific steps you can take to rekindle the flames of devotion that should burn within every Christian man.

Prayer:

Lord, help me to be a man of zeal for your kingdom. (Romans 12:11)

Romans 12:11:
Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord.

Meditation:

Reflect on how you can cultivate greater passion for God's work in your life.

Quote:

“The pursuit of God is not a part-time, weekend exercise. If it is, chances are you will experience a part-time, weekend freedom. Abiding requires a kind of staying power. The pursuit is relentless. It hungers and thirsts. It pants as the deer after the mountain brook. It takes the kingdom by storm…The pursuit of God is a pursuit of passion. Indifference will not do.” -- R.C. Sproul

Book Recommendation:

Living Zealously by Joel R. Beeke and James A. La Belle

In a world of spiritual mediocrity, the church desperately needs believers who burn with holy passion. Living Zealously by Joel R. Beeke and James A. La Belle rekindles that fire.

Drawing from centuries of Puritan wisdom, this compelling book answers a question few dare ask: What does it mean to live with genuine, biblical zeal? The authors don't offer empty sentimentality or misguided fanaticism. Instead, they provide a balanced, Scripture-rooted vision of Christian passion that transforms everything.

Whether you struggle with spiritual lethargy, wonder how to live more purposefully for God, or simply want to understand what separates authentic faith from cultural Christianity, this book delivers. Each chapter moves seamlessly from theological depth to practical application, equipped with study questions for personal reflection or group discussion.

The authors explore zeal's proper objects, necessary boundaries, and essential means—ensuring your passion becomes sustainable and fruitful rather than burnout-prone. Their Puritan sources aren't dusty relics; they're tested wisdom from believers who lived with extraordinary devotion.

This isn't a book merely to read. It's a catalyst for transformation. Living Zealously will challenge your complacency, deepen your love for Christ, and set your heart ablaze with holy purpose. If you're ready to stop sleepwalking through faith and start burning for God's glory, this book is essential.
