Grace and Peace to you brothers.

As we enter week 37, I want to encourage you to reflect deeply on the gift of time and the responsibility we carry to use it wisely. Scripture reminds us in Ephesians 5:15-16 to walk carefully, making the best use of our days because they are limited and precious. As men of God, our stewardship of time impacts not only our relationship with the Lord but also how we lead, serve, and love those around us. This week, let us seek God’s wisdom to align our schedules, priorities, and choices with His purposes, ensuring that every moment counts for His glory.

Prayer:

Lord, grant me the wisdom to use my time wisely. (Ephesians 5:15-16)

Meditation:

Consider how you can be a better steward of your time as a man of God.

Quote:

“‘Wait on the Lord’ is a constant refrain in the Psalms, and it is a necessary word, for God often keeps us waiting. He is not in such a hurry as we are, and it is not his way to give more light on the future than we need for action in the present, or to guide us more than one step at a time.” - J.I. Packer

“Place a high value upon your time; be more careful of not losing it than you would of losing your money. Do not let worthless recreations, idle talk, unprofitable company, or sleep rob you of your precious time.” - Richard Baxter

God never hurries. There are no deadlines against which He must work. Only to know this is to quiet our spirits and relax our nerves.” - A.W. Tozer

What’s Best Next: How the Gospel Transforms the Way You Get Things Done
by Matt Perman

This book is a comprehensive exploration of productivity through a distinctly Christian lens. Published in 2014 by Zondervan, this book presents what Perman calls “Gospel-Driven Productivity” (GDP) - a framework that redefines productivity not as merely getting more things done faster, but as effectively accomplishing the right things for the glory of God and the good of others.

Matt Perman brings unique qualifications to this subject, having served for 13 years at Desiring God ministry under John Piper, first as director of internet and then as director of strategy. His background combines deep theological training (M.Div. from Southern Seminary) with practical experience in organizational leadership and productivity systems. As John Piper notes in the foreword, “I doubt there is a person on the planet who knows both theological issues and time-management literature to the depth and extent Matt Perman does”

The book’s central premise is that true productivity must be grounded in the gospel of Jesus Christ. Perman argues that “the only way to be productive is to realize that you don’t have to be productive”. This paradoxical statement reflects the Christian understanding that our acceptance by God is based on Christ’s work, not our own accomplishments, which actually frees us to be more productive in service to others
