Grace and Peace to you.
As we enter the thirty-fourth week of this year, we find ourselves called to transform our entire perspective on every task, responsibility, and opportunity before us. This week's theme—working diligently as unto the Lord—challenges us not merely to labor harder, but to embrace the profound truth of Colossians 3:23: "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men". Whether you're leading in the boardroom, serving in ministry, raising your children, or handling the seemingly mundane tasks of daily life, every moment of our lives is an act of worship, every responsibility an assignment from the Almighty. Our diligence isn't driven by selfish ambition or the approval of men, but springs from a heart that understands we are serving the Lord Christ Himself. As men of God in today's world, we face the temptation to compartmentalize our faith - to serve God on Sundays but work for men during the week - yet Scripture calls us to wholehearted devotion in all things, recognizing that our ultimate authority and audience is Jesus Christ who sees our hearts, knows our motives, and rewards faithfully. This week, may we embrace this high calling with the diligence it deserves, knowing that our labor in the Lord is never in vain.
Prayer:
Lord, help me to be a man of diligence in my work and ministry. (Colossians 3:23)
Meditation:
Reflect on how you can work more wholeheartedly as unto the Lord.
Quote:
“The essence of our work as humans must be that it is done in conscious reliance on God’s power, and in conscious quest of God’s pattern of excellence, and in deliberate aim to reflect God’s glory.” – John Piper

God at Work: Your Christian Vocation in All of Life
by Gene Edward Veith Jr.
Men, if you've ever felt the tension between your Monday morning work and your Sunday faith - if you've wondered whether your job as an accountant, teacher, mechanic, or executive carries any real spiritual weight - then Gene Edward Veith Jr.'s "God at Work" will revolutionize how you see every hour of your life. This isn't another book about finding work-life balance or climbing the corporate ladder; it's a theological game-changer that reveals how God Himself is actively working through your daily labor to bless and serve others. Veith dismantles the false hierarchy that says only pastors and missionaries have "real" callings, showing instead that changing diapers, fixing engines, leading teams, or providing for your family are all equally sacred acts of service when done in faith. For men who carry the biblical responsibility to lead, protect, and provide, this book offers profound assurance that your work - whatever it is - serves God's eternal purposes and makes you a "mask of God" through which He blesses the world. Whether you're questioning your career path, feeling discouraged in a difficult job, or simply wanting to understand how your faith intersects with your 40-hour work week, "God at Work" provides the theological foundation and practical wisdom that will transform your understanding of masculine calling and give eternal significance to every task you undertake as a man working diligently as unto the Lord.
In His Service,
