Brothers,
As we step into week 9, we are reminded that renewed minds will always shape renewed loves. This week’s prayer from Romans 12:9 asks the Lord to make our love genuine, to teach us to hate what is evil, and to cling to what is good, and that is heart-level work only He can do in us. In a world that disciples us to shrug at sin or laugh it off, Scripture calls us to something far better a sincere, rugged love that refuses to be passive about evil in our own hearts or in the spaces we lead. As you read, pray, and reflect, ask the Spirit to show you where you have grown dull toward sin and to renew your mind so that what God loves, you love, and what He hates, you learn to hate for His glory and your good.[1]
Prayer:
Lord, let my love be genuine; help me to hate what is evil and hold fast to what is good. (Romans 12:9)
Romans 12:9 - Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good.
Meditation:
Passive men tolerate evil; godly men abhor it. Where have you become passive about sin in your environment?
Quote:
Ligon Duncan “When Paul says, ‘Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good,’ he is telling you that love discriminates. It cannot embrace evil and still be love, because true love clings to what pleases God.”

Book Recommendation:
The Enemh Within by Kris Lundgaard
Every man who follows Christ carries an enemy he cannot outrun — not the devil, not the culture, but the indwelling sin that lives inside his own heart. Kris Lundgaard's *The Enemy Within* exposes this adversary with unflinching honesty and equips men to fight it with gospel-centered weapons.
Men are uniquely tempted to project strength while rotting from the inside out. We hide behind busyness, silence our convictions with distractions, and mistake the absence of scandal for the presence of holiness. Lundgaard dismantles these illusions. Drawing on the Puritan theologian John Owen, he reveals how sin deceives the mind, captures the affections, and conquers the will — a sequence every man has experienced but few can name.
Most importantly, the book doesn't leave you drowning in guilt. It drives you to the cross, where Christ has already defeated the enemy you cannot defeat alone. Whether you struggle with lust, anger, pride, or spiritual apathy, this book hands you a mirror and a sword — and points you to the only Victor who matters.
