This new series is on thinking about the greatness of God. To think big thoughts that are more in line with the nature of our God and to live a life in response to who He is, which is not only thinking big about God, but also living big by what the Bible defines as a big life. Using Genesis 3:1-7, Craig brings us a foundational message, a visionary overview, on living a life for something bigger than ourselves.

We see in 2 Corinthians 5:11-21 that Paul is taking on the false teachers and prophets who are saying that trusting in Christ is not enough. They are saying you need to be a good Sabbath keeper, have circumcision, have all the ritual laws of the old law, etc. Basically they start to say that how you work and the things that you do in front of God makes you acceptable to God. Paul is writing this passage to cut down the lie that says the finished work of Christ on the cross is not enough. Paul tells us that if anyone is in Christ they are a new creation (v.17). Paul's burden is to show that God, through the gospel, has given His people a new power, a new peace and a new purpose.

This message is from Leviticus 16. The book of Leviticus deals with laws and regulations regarding what makes a person clean or unclean before God. Culturally the book of Leviticus is very distant from us today, but the overall meaning of what's happening is extremely relevant and accessible because the point of the book is that once the people of God are freed, and now can worship God, the question becomes how can a holy God dwell in the midst of a sinful people. How can a sinful people come before a holy God and worship? The answer is through atonement. God himself makes amends for us through His son. Craig points out that we could not do a series on atonement without looking at Leviticus 16, which is about the Hebrew Day of Atonement, and then looking at what it points forward to in Jesus Christ.

Today's passage is Exodus 12. As Craig points out, atonement is a central theme in scripture and that there is no greater need in our lives. Atonement means restoring a broken relationship by making amends for a wrong, by satisfying an injured party and bringing restoration to a relationship. From the beginning of scripture we realize we have a broken relationship with God because of our sin. We do not have the ability to make amends on our own. The glorious message of the Bible is that God makes amends by the act of atoning for our sins Himself in the person of Jesus Christ.

We are a part of the people of God and we walk out this commitment in a local church. Church is not the building we go to on Sunday mornings, but rather it is the relational community of the people gathered who share Christ in common. Craig points out that meeting doesn't guarantee genuine fellowship will happen. We must engage ourselves in the lives of the people who make up our local church. For Grace Church, the primary means of cultivating fellowship and building relationships is through our small groups, which are called Care Groups. Craig draws our attention to several passages in scripture where we are called to "one another."

Rob shares a fear of his and transitions into Psalm 27 written by David who was well acquainted with darkness, terror and a great need in his life. In Psalm 27 we see David cry out for God to reveal something to him in a tangible and personal way. We see the one thing that set David free from the fear of all things. How does David describe his fear in this psalm? What is the one thing he pursues in his fear? How does he pursue it? These are questions that Rob asks us to consider and shows us how the answers apply to us today.
