"Summer of Psalms", Psalm 138

Pete Payne preaches the fourth message of our "Summer of Psalms." Using Psalm 138, Pete asks us a series of questions. What hope occupies your thoughts? In both days that are filled with good things as well as days that you are facing struggles, what thoughts rose to an exalted position in your thinking? What rises to the exalted position of thinking in the mind of God? In vs. 2 the psalmist answers this question, "for you have exalted above all things your name and your word." What relation to God's thoughts and what He exalts have to my thoughts and what I exalt in my thinking?

"Summer of Psalms", Psalm 139

Craig Cabaniss preaches the third sermon in the "Summer of Psalms." Psalm 139 gives us an intimate picture of God. In this psalm we see answers to many common questions. God, do you really know what's going on in my life? God, where are you? In verse after verse, David shows us how God knows everything about us, our thoughts, actions and words before they even happen. Christians should take comfort in the knowledge that God is with us every moment of the day and has not left us alone.

"Summer of Psalms", Psalm 103

Craig Cabaniss preaches the second message of the "Summer of Psalms". In Psalm 103 David begins with a call to worship, to praise the God of the universe, and not to forget all of His benefits. He ends with instructing every person to praise the Lord. This is one of the primary things we do when we gather on Sunday. We seek not to forget any of the Lord's benefits.

"Summer of Psalms", Psalm 33

Craig Cabaniss preaches the inaugural message of the "Summer of Psalms". Starting with Psalm 33, we see a call to exuberant worship (4 verses), then reasons to praise (19 verses). Honest emotion and honest questions about the human conditions are expressed in the Psalms. If you are feeling it, there is likely a Psalm that expresses your situation. At the same time the Psalms express the nature and character of God (Godward focus).

Paul brings these together in vs. 20 when he tells Timothy to guard the deposit (God's Truth) that has been entrusted to you. Keywords: Truth, Belief, Doctrine, Practice, Guard, Church.
